Model Motion
for trade union branches

1. This branch notes with deep concern the racist English Defence League’s plans to stage a provocative demonstration in Walthamstow on 18th August with the aim of stirring up racial tension in our community. EDL marches are always accompanied by intimidation and violence against ethnic minorities and anti-racists.

2. This branch believes that all those who oppose racism and fascism need to stand united against the EDL. We therefore warmly welcome the launch of "We Are Waltham Forest", a broadly based campaign against the EDL.

3. This branch resolves to:

(a) Affiliate to "We Are Waltham Forest";

(b) Send delegates to organising meetings;

(c) Support and publicise protests and public meetings amongst our members;

(d) Make a donation to "We Are Waltham Forest".
